Week of Springsteen Underway on 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon'

Promotional machine in high gear ahead of 'Wrecking Ball' album release, tour

You can say an awful lot of things about Bruce Springsteen, but you can't say the man doesn't know how to promote the heck out of a new release. For those of us who are huge fans, times are very, very good at the moment. So much is going on surrounding the upcoming release of Springsteen's new album, Wrecking Ball, that it's actually getting hard to keep track of everything.

Here's an example: This is the 'week of Springsteen' on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Seriously, a whole week. How could we ask for more? Here's the scoop on the whole Jimmy Fallon thing: Last night, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed two songs live on Late Night: "We Take Care of Our Own" and the new album's title track, "Wrecking Ball." And yes, I propped my eyelids open with toothpicks and stayed up way past my bedtime to watch.

Both performances on Jimmy's show were stellar, particularly "Wrecking Ball." Here's a great link, so you can see for yourself. A literal wall of rock! Intense, fast-paced....and certain to excite fans who now have their upcoming tour tickets in hand (I do, came last week, Atlanta Atlanta Atlanta).

Okay, back to the week of late night Bruce telly-vision: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Jimmy Fallon's show will feature artists doing covers of Springsteen songs. Tuesday, it's Kenny Chesney doing "I'm on Fire," Wednesday features John Legend doing "Dancing in the Dark" and on Thursday, my personal Holy Grail: Elvis Costello performing "Brilliant Disguise." Chill bumps on that last one. Big ones.

Enjoy the next several weeks and months, Springsteen fans: We are extremely lucky to love a rock and (in my opinion) folk icon who is still, in his 60s, making incredibly relevant music.
